Trying to run on prime doesn't always work. My '96 will flood out and die (found this out after filling tank - thought I was switching from reserve to run and I got prime instead. Died under me). Not a bad idea to run on reserve once in a while, lets whatever is building up in the bottom of the tank get run out.
